EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW | Dash Williams Talks about Comedy, Inspirations and his advice for his fans.

Our Editor MG had a chat with 14-year-old stand-up comedian and actor Dash Williams. Best known for playing Brian on ABC’s hit comedy “Fresh Off the Boat,” Dash tackles a much darker role in Epix’s new series “Perpetual Grace LTD,” which premieres on June 2. Starring alongside Ben Kingsley, Jacki Weaver, and Jimmi Simpson, Dash portrays ‘Glenn Purdue,’ a dim-witted young boy who is thrown into the criminal underworld after his father’s pawn shop is robbed. Dash Talks about his comedy style, Fashion inspiration and his advice for his fans.

First of all thank you, Dash, please tell us a little about you?
Thanks for having me. I’m an actor that you might have seen in “Fresh Off the Boat” and you can see me in the new neo-noir series “Perpetual Grace Ltd” premiering on Epix on June

Why/when did you decide to go to the entertainment industry and why?
I have been in the industry for my entire life. I started off doing improv and then started doing more theatrical work after that.

You are an amazing actor and a comedian, you are perfect in both but which one seems more fun for you?
Thank you. I wouldn’t say one is more fun than the other. In comedy, the reaction people give is usually more immediate wherein other types of acting the reaction last for longer and is more sustained.

How would you describe your comedy style?
My comedy style is dry, absurd, and analytical.

Tell us about your experience working with Jimmi Simpson?
Jimmi Simpson was great to work with. He was always willing to run lines whenever and we have stayed in touch since we finished shooting.

What makes "Glenn" different from your previous characters?
“Perpetual Grace Ltd” is much darker than any of my other projects. This is also true for Glenn, he has to exist in a world where these dark events take place.

Tell us about a time where you had difficulty with a character. What was the role and why was it challenging?
Glenn was a very interesting character to play because the tone of this show was different than anything I’ve ever done.

When was your first role as an actor?
My first role as an actor was as a kid on a cruise in “Comedy Bang Bang.”

In which area would you like to improve as an actor?
My focus is always on having a connection to the other actors in the scene and I want to continue to improve on that through the projects I work on.

Of all the roles you have played in the past, which is your favorite?
I don’t really have a favorite role, they have all been unique and special in different ways.

Who is your favorite actor, and why?
My favorite actor right now is Olivia Coleman. She can be incredibly funny but can also portray heartbreaking emotion as well. She’s one of my role models for sure.

What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever done for you?
All of the fans have been very nice. One of the Fresh Off the Boat fans passed a nice note over through our server because they did not want to interrupt me eating dinner.

Tell me about an organization or group outside of work that you contributed to?
Every year me and my friends participate in the Jonathan Jaques Children's Cancer Institute’s charity run for the Miller Children's Hospital. We get to run alongside children fighting cancer and their families and friends and cheer for them.

What sort of roles do you see yourself playing in the future?
I would love to do more roles in dark comedy.

Who is your Fashion inspiration and why?
My fashion inspiration is Karamo from “Queer Eye” because he always put effort into what he wears.

What are your biggest piece of advice for our readers and your fans?
If you commit to something you can do it.
